London, As I Love It: My Path of Places That Speak to Me

There’s a rhythm to London that only reveals itself when you slow down and let it lead. These are the places I return to—quiet corners, vibrant cafes, timeless streets—each one holding a certain feeling, a memory, or a spark of inspiration.

London opens to you like a novel itself... It is divided into chapters, the chapters into scenes, the scenes into sentences, it opens to you like a series of rooms, doors and passages. - Anna Quindlen

MUSEUM FOR DESIGN:

The Design Museum

Tucked in the heart of Kensington, this space feels like a sanctuary for the curious and the creatively restless. I can lose hours wandering through its sleek, light-filled galleries—each exhibit a reminder that design shapes not just objects, but the way we live, move, and express ourselves. From minimalist architecture to boundary-pushing fashion, it’s a place where timelessness meets innovation.

A GALLERY VISIT:

Sarah Myerscough Gallery

Sarah Myerscough Gallery is where craftsmanship truly takes centre stage. I’m captivated by their contemporary approach to age-old techniques, showcasing works that feel both grounded and sculptural. The gallery represents a distinguished group of international artist-designer-makers, each with a reverence for natural materials—particularly wood. Their pieces celebrate form, texture, and time, blurring the line between art and function in the most elegant way.

AN INDULGENT LUNCH:

Sketch

Where art, design, and dining meet in the most theatrical way. Renowned designer India Mahdavi transformed the Gallery into an iconic pastel pink dream—elegant, whimsical, and instantly recognisable. This is where I indulge in both food and design. And yes, every corner is a scene-stealer, making it one of the most photogenic and memorable dining experiences in London.

ROOFTOP LUNCH:

Alto by San Carlo

Alto by San Carlo is a stunning rooftop Italian restaurant atop Selfridges, London. With a menu full of fresh seasonal dishes and plenty of choice, it’s perfect for sharing—think small plates, bold flavours, and beautiful views.

LUXURY DINING:

Mister Nice, Mayfair

Mister Nice in Mayfair is my go-to for a luxurious dining experience. Exquisite food in a beautifully designed space—pure elegance.

THE BEST COCKTAIL:

8 at The Londoner, Soho

This is my top spot for cocktails. It has great music and the most incredible Japanese-style fireplace, which keeps you warm even on icy nights.

FURNITURE FINDS:

Soho Home

Former chapel originally built in 1824, this interior space sits in the heart of Chelsea’s design district on King’s Road with Coco’s coffee shop located at the entrance. A source for unique design pieces that make any space special. Always something new to discover.

Chelsea Design Centre

DESIGN HEAVEN:

Design Centre, Chelsea

The Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour is one of my favourite spots for inspiration. Home to some of the world’s finest luxury interiors brands, it’s a beautifully curated space where every showroom sparks ideas. Whether I’m sourcing or simply exploring, I always leave feeling creatively recharged.

TO SHOP:

Perfumer H, Marylebone

Unconventional fragrances by Lyn Harris, half shop and half laboratory, Perfumer H is a strange, magical place where you’ll find unique, never before seen perfumes. The use of raw materials and techniques that inspire me and the process behind the my favourite perfurme the 'Rose'.

CURATED BOOKSHOP:

Libreria

I love collecting interesting books. Yellow floor-to-ceiling bookcases and the strategically placed mirrors create a sense of books stretching into infinity. On the shelves of this bookshop the books aren’t organised into the usual sections like “detective novels” or “poetry”. They’re filed using a system that might seem random at first, but that is specifically designed to help customers find new books and promote interdisciplinary thinking.

MAGAZINE DESTINATION:

Magculture

Few things bring me as much joy as wandering into a well-curated magazine shop. I always leave with a favourite new print in hand—and could happily lose track of time just browsing the shelves.

FOR COFFEE LOVERS:

Monmouth Coffee, Borough Market

At Monmouth’s Borough Market outpost, queues often stretch outside—proof of its cult status among London’s coffee lovers. Inside, mounds of roasted beans, golden scoops, and the scent of single-origin brews fill the air. Seating is limited, but well worth the wait; others sip streetside or wander the market with their expertly crafted cup in hand.

A MUST VISIT NEIGHBOURHOOD:

Notting Hill

A must-see neighbourhood, Notting Hill offers a vibrant glimpse into London’s most colourful side. Best known for the iconic Portobello Road Market—brimming with antiques, vintage treasures, and street food—it’s also home to some of the city’s most photogenic streets, lined with pastel and boldly painted townhouses. Stroll down Lancaster Road to see them in full splendour.
